The " Square Enix " booth at the " Tokyo Game Show 20 23" (TGS2023), one of Japan's largest game festivals held in September 2023, exhibited " Dragon Quest Monsters 3: Prince of the Demons and Journey of the Elves " (DQM3). (hereafter referred to as "DQM3 " ), and also tried out " Infinity Strush: Dragon Quest Dai no Daiboken " at the "Square Enix" booth at TGS2023.
Report on the Square Enix booth!
Dragon Quest Monsters 3: Prince of the Demons and the Journey of the Elves
DQM3, which will be released on December 1, 2023 (Friday), was prominently displayed. DQM3 is the first numbered Monsters title in over a decade.
The main character is Pizarro as a boy. As an alternate story to Dragon Quest 4, the story is told from Pizarro's point of view. Many nostalgic characters will appear in this title.
King Slime and Golden Slime were on display at the booth.
The title features a "spring, summer, fall, and winter" system, in which the four seasons change with the passage of time as you progress through the field. Monsters can only be encountered in each season, and there are paths that are impassable and paths that are passable, making field exploration a very enjoyable experience.
The Lula system is also very well designed. With "ZL" on the controller, a list of destinations is immediately displayed, and you can use Lula to quickly move around the field, inside buildings, or anywhere else. I was impressed by the ease of use of Lula in past titles such as Teriwan and Iruruka, as it has been used frequently in those games. (Also, with the introduction of the four seasons and the seasonal monsters in the field, it is convenient to press the "ZL" button the moment the season changes in a different field and move to the desired field.)
A demo version of the game has been released, and up to eight monsters can be selected and transferred from the demo version, although only their names and sizes are available. Although you can only combine monsters up to F rank, if you prepare in advance for monsters that are difficult to create by combining, you will surely be able to get off to a good start. The demo version can be downloaded from the My Nintendo Store!
Infinity Strush Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken
This is an action game based on the Jump series, which recently had its anime revived for the first time in about 20 years. The author was curious to try out the game. The booth had a photo booth with life-size panels of Dai, Pop, Maam, and Hyunkeru.
The player controls attacks, evades, guards, and spells, and basically fights by making full use of them. The game allows players to relive the story of Dai no Daiboken and includes the battle of Oniwa Castle.
The feeling I got from playing the game was that guard cancels did not seem to exist, and it was basically hit and away. Although the game felt a little monotonous, I felt that the game was designed to be enjoyable even for beginners without requiring difficulty.
The "call Gome-chan" button is a curious one. Although we were not able to try it out, it is a button that we are very interested in.
Star Ocean Second Story R
This is the title that caught my attention. This game was released in 2000 on the PS1 platform, and has since been ported and remade for several hardware platforms, including the PSP, but this remake is a complete remake! The game screens were shown at the event.
The booth displayed image art of "Star Ocean: Second Story R" and an original reproduction of the "Hero of Light". The artwork is available for purchase at Square Enix's e-STORE, so if you were at the event and were interested in purchasing a copy, why not?
The game retains the nostalgic dots of the PS version, but has been refined with beautiful effects and backgrounds. The game has been refined with beautiful effects and backgrounds while maintaining the nostalgic dots of the PS version. At the venue, there was also a display of the Star Ocean series' previous software titles. Among them, Star Ocean 1 was displayed on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), which made me nostalgic.
Star Ocean Second Story R" and "DQM3," both of which are about to be released, reminded me of the strong popularity of these games. Star Ocean: Second Story R" will be released onNovember 2, 2023 (Thursday ), and "DQM3" on December 1, 2023 (Friday). Infinity Strush Dragon Quest: Dai no Daiboken" is available on Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Why don't you give it a try?
