Event

Japan's largest game festival, "Tokyo Game Show 2024," was held from Thursday, September 26 to Sunday, September 29, 2024.
The Capcom booth was packed with people who were waiting in line before the doors even opened on the first day to try the game!
Naturally, the Saiga NAK Monster Hunter Club also got a hands-on experience with "Monster Hunter Wilds," so we've put together a summary of the impressions from our Saiga NAK Hunters!

RuiPoyo, the Beginner Hunter, Chooses the Insect Glaive!

RuiPoyo chose the Insect Glaive, which she played in the Rise era!
By using the terrain to attack, she was able to mount the monster early on!
In the Iceborne era, it took so long to succeed with mounting that many hunters were flustered while looking up, but it feels like the mounting time has been shortened this time.

And she could clearly see the pole dance that caused a stir in the gameplay videos! We were all abuzz.

The Nameless Veteran Hunter Chooses the Lance

At Saiga NAK, there is a hunter who was born from the Lance, carried a Lance even before making a sound as a baby, and of course, chooses the Lance in every game. It's hard to tell whether the Lance or the human is the main body.

That hunter instantly chose the Lance.
Here is the user experience:

  • The movements were not as superhuman as in Sunbreak
  • The attack branched from a three-stage combo to a four-stage combo, and it seems like various new combos could be discovered through research
  • Thanks to the Seikret, it's easy because there's no need to sheathe your weapon when you want to heal
  • A subtle but nice change is that in the previous game, you couldn't climb over ledges while using a whetstone, but now you can climb and move while using one

The hands-on experience was time-limited, so we really wanted to do more research...

Reika Chooses the Crazy-Combo Charge Blade!

Reika chose the Charge Blade, which was incredibly fun to use in the Sunbreak era.
Here is the user experience:

  • A small attack leads to a big attack
  • In the case of a counter, it immediately turns into a big attack
  • It enters an Axe Enhanced state after Wounding
  • Wounding is fun

The Wounding motion for the Charge Blade was like an electric saw, which felt incredibly satisfying.
Also, it seems that Wounding is a key motion in this game, as I felt that the monster is guaranteed to flinch after Wounding (this might be adjusted in the full version).

Also, it feels like an Iceborne with more freedom and easier controls, as you can pick up things from a distance with the Slinger and operate the Seikret automatically or manually!

In World, when a character you created started to move, the "This Isn't What I Expected Incident" would occur, but it seems to have been improved in this game.
For example, in World, if you created a character that looked like Hiroyuki, the Hiroyuki in the cutscenes would look like a cheap imitation, and that was the "incident."

Rey Dau’s face is much more rugged and intimidating than I expected!
