It has been announced that the esports tournament “THROW THE SPARK 2026 Sakura City Tournament” will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the Shizu Community Center in Sakura City.
Participation is free, and in addition to the full-scale competitive tournament, the event will feature hands-on activities for everyone from children to families, as well as food and beverage stalls and local product booths.

THROW THE SPARK is an esports project that launched in September 2025 in Okayama City as a full-scale league competition. It is organized by the professional esports team “SETOUCHI SPARKS,” based in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture.
For this event, the project is collaborating with esports teams and communities within Chiba Prefecture, making this the largest-scale event of its kind ever held in the prefecture.
Through esports, this event aims to create a “vibrant gathering place” where anyone—regardless of age, gender, physical ability, or place of residence—can participate and excel, and where people of diverse generations can come together and interact.
Furthermore, as part of city promotion, the event will utilize local resources to showcase the city’s appeal.
A variety of events will be held!
On the day of the tournament, the following competitions are scheduled to take place.
Fortnite Time Attack: "Journey Through the Four Cities of Hokuso: Experiencing Edo in the Townscapes of Hokuso"
PR TIMES Compete for the fastest time on a course that recreates the townscapes of Sakura, Narita, Choshi, and Katori—the four cities featured in the Japan Heritage “Hokuso Four Cities Edo Journey.”
This event is designed to widely promote the charms of the Hokuso region by using real-life locations as its setting.
Street Fighter 6 Sakura City Tournament
PR TIMESThis is a tournament that serves as a qualifier for the national finals, featuring a total prize pool of 1 million yen.
Minecraft Tournament
PR TIMESAs a creative competition designed to let children unleash their imagination, participants will build their ideal town based on a given theme.
Giant Reversi (Othello) Tournament
PR TIMESAt this popular Reversi tournament, participants can enjoy a candy grab, so even young children can have fun.
New Puzzle Game "SHIKA-Q" Tournament and Trial Session
PR TIMES A tournament and trial session for the new puzzle game are scheduled to be held simultaneously.
Please note that registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis on-site the day of the event.
Additionally, participant recruitment for each title’s competition is currently underway on the official “THROW THE SPARK 2026” website.
In addition, food and beverage booths, as well as booths selling local specialties and other regional products, will be set up around the venue.
