Report from the
Event

A media presentation for the collaboration between Overwatch 2 and RED° TOKYO TOWER was held on Monday, September 30, 2024.
This is a first-time initiative for Overwatch 2, which collaborated with RED° TOKYO TOWER under the auspices of ARMA BIANCA Co., Ltd. It has garnered significant attention as the world's largest collaborative decoration.
A Blizzard Korea Studio artist, who was in charge of the event's key visual, also came to Japan, with the bonus of getting to see a live drawing in person!
A talk and design introduction were also held with POKImari, who was responsible for the merchandise illustrations.

Dospi Jin: I designed it with the overall concept of bright, hopeful heroes protecting people.
All the heroes in Overwatch 2 have interesting stories, and for the story of the illustration, I chose three heroes with roots in Japan. The content is about the three heroes who came to play at Tokyo Tower, protecting it from evil!

I designed the clothes for all three of them by referencing Japanese street fashion.

I put the most effort into Kiriko's design, which evokes "Kiriko wanting to go for a run right now" and the red color of Tokyo Tower.

I hope this illustration will help people who are not yet familiar with Overwatch 2 get to know it.

It seems that the Blizzard Korea Studio artist team decided on street fashion as the inspiration from Japanese fashion.
The artist mentioned that it would be difficult to implement this Kiriko skin in the game because they are not in the related department for skins, but that they have obtained approval for the social media response. So, let's use our loud voices on social media to campaign for the skin's implementation!

POKImari is a Japanese illustrator and a talented creator who works primarily in the game media industry.

POKImari: I incorporated hero-like qualities and motifs into street fashion to make people feel more attached to the heroes.

For D.Va, I kept her iconic headphones and the design on her chest as they are. For Tracer, I restricted the color palette to only orange, without using any other colors.
By adding a light blue accent, I made sure that the goods would be easily recognizable from a distance when they were turned into small items.

For Kiriko, I went with a more masculine fashion style, adding a lot of black and red.
I finished off her belt in a way that is distinctly Kiriko.

I didn't want Lúcio to have a similar silhouette, so I gave him a loose-fitting look. As for Cassidy, I aimed for a theme of "mature and dapper charm," creating a cool vibe by adding his original iconic scarf and a cigarette.

POKImari said that the designs for D.Va and Tracer turned out well and that she has a special fondness for the Tracer design because it's the first time she's used an all-orange design.
It seems that POKImari's favorite is Kiriko, and she decided from the beginning to draw her in the center.
It's great to see Kiriko with a special feeling after hearing the artist's thoughts on the drawing.

Kim Tae-jun: Kiriko and Genji have been close for a long time, so I drew these two heroes, thinking it would be good if they were the main ones.
I intentionally lowered Genji's mask to make his cyborg image brighter.
