Yamaha Music Japan exhibits at the "Tokyo Game Show 2023 " (TGS2023) starting on September 21, 2023 (Thursday). At the Yamaha booth, we experienced the " Safine NS Custom Base Model " soundproof room, the " ZG01 " audio mixer for distribution, and the " YH-G01 " headset, and we report on our impressions of them.

The first surprising thing about the "Safine NS Custom Base Model" soundproofing room is that once inside, the sound from the outside was completely inaudible. The sounds of various games and equipment were flying around the venue, but inside the soundproofed room, all of these sounds were completely inaudible. At this point, the high airtightness of this product can be seen.

Even when this powerful sound is played at high volume, there is no leakage to the outside. (In fact, when I was waiting in line, I could not hear any sound from inside the soundproof room.)

There was a time in the past when I used a woofer to enjoy movies, but I had to give up using it in tears because the heavy bass sounded like an earth tremor in the rest of the room. However, with this soundproofing quality, I will be able to enjoy games and movies with powerful sound without worrying about my family and neighbors.

This product is often used by distributors to prevent noise problems caused by talking during recording, but it is also a valuable product for other uses besides distribution, such as experiencing video without worrying about surroundings with the aforementioned high-quality sound, or playing musical instruments.

Audio mixer "ZG01" and headset "YH-G01

At the gaming corner, visitors were able to play Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (AC6) using the ZG01 audio mixer designed for game distribution and the YH-G01 headset with studio-quality sound. (These devices are also installed in the soundproof room, but the author did not use the "YH-G01" headset to experience real surround sound.)

The "YH-G01" gave the impression of flat sound quality when I first heard it, but it was very interesting to see how the sound quality changed dramatically when the "ZG01" game effect button was pressed.

The most noticeable change was after pressing the game effect button #3, when shooting with the AC6, the sound of the weapon became so bass-heavy and powerful that it was hard to believe that it was the same weapon.

With the ZG01, the user can apply effects such as the equalizer to the game effect buttons 1-3 by using the dedicated "ZG Controller" application. This makes it possible to easily change settings to suit various situations, such as boosting mid-bass tones for a more powerful sound, or boosting treble tones to make footsteps easier to hear in shooter-type games, as described above.

Although the "ZG01" is designed for game distribution, gamers nowadays have many opportunities to play games with friends while using Discord (a voice chat tool). The audio mixer is highly convenient for gamers due to its various advantages.
