The 20th Asian Games, to be held in Aichi Prefecture in 2026, has adopted e-sports as an official sports competition.

At the 18th Asian Games in 2018, Japanese representatives won a gold medal in Winning Eleven (now eFootball), which was held as a demonstration game.
Esports will become an official sport at the following 19th Asian Games, which will start on September 23, 2023, although it was postponed due to COVID-19.
The following e-sports titles for the 19th Asian Games have been announced by JeSU as of September 2021.
