Co-developed by Niantic and Capcom, the location-based game, Monster Hunter Now, launched its first major update, Fulminations in the Frost, on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

New Weapon Types: Dual Blades and Lance
Monster Hunter Now Official WebsiteEagerly requested since launch, Dual Blades unleash relentless combo attacks with overwhelming hit counts and mobility.
By utilizing a unique stamina gauge to activate Demon Mode, players can boost their attack capabilities.
Designing Demon Mode within a limited 75-second hunt timer proved challenging, which is why implementation took time.
The Lance joins as another guard-capable weapon alongside Sword & Shield.
With skills like Guard and Offensive Guard already present in the game, players can pull off stable, guard-based maneuvers.
6 New Monsters Including Winter Exclusives
Monster Hunter Now Official WebsiteNew monsters added to Monster Hunter Now include:
- Large Monsters: Radobaan, Banbaro, Barioth, Zinogre
- Small Monsters: Wulg, Cortos
Weapons crafted from Radobaan materials feature the game's first sleep element.
Banbaro, Barioth, and Wulg inhabit cold ecosystems, making them a perfect fit for the current season!
Field maps will feature a light dusting of snow from December through early March, but once this season ends, these three monsters will temporarily stop appearing.
Be sure to actively gather materials to craft weapons and armor while they are available.
Zinogre is immensely popular across the entire Monster Hunter franchise and serves as the flagship for the Fulminations in the Frost update, appearing exclusively in Hunt-a-thons.
New Content Hunt-a-thons
Niantic and Capcom will introduce a new feature, Hunt-a-thons, where players hunt multiple monsters in succession, on Friday, December 15, 2023.
When an upcoming notification appears at dimensional rifts at Wayspots on the map, the Hunt-a-thon begins after the countdown ends.
Functioning like raids, it allows numerous hunters to participate together.
Developers noted, "We are also considering measures to make Hunt-a-thons easier to enjoy in areas where gathering players is difficult in the future," giving players plenty to look forward to.
From Friday, December 15 to Sunday, December 17, 2023, the Zinogre’s Onslaught event will take place, making the 5th monster in Hunt-a-thons guaranteed to be Zinogre.
This is a prime opportunity to collect Zinogre materials, so prepare ice-element focused weapons and armor in advance.
After the Zinogre’s Onslaught event concludes, appearance rates will return to normal.
