I imagine retro game fans are heading out to local shops to get their hands on consoles and software that have become increasingly precious in recent years. One of the quintessential representatives of retro gaming is the Famicom, known internationally as the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System).
As part of the Famicom 40th anniversary celebrations, the weekly Famicom National Poll has been providing opportunities to remember the titles we played obsessively or those we could never find. The desire to play nostalgic titles on actual hardware is likely welling up now that these games have become so rare.
The results for the Famicom National Poll Vol. 44 "Racing Games" have been announced, and they are sure to add a few more titles to your must-play list!

The results for the Famicom National Poll Vol. 44 "Racing Games" have been announced, and the top 20 rankings are now public on the Famicom 40th Anniversary Campaign Site!
Racing is one of the popular game genres that continues to thrive today.
In modern times, these games attract attention for graphics that look almost like live-action, but their enduring appeal ultimately comes down to that high-stakes gameplay where every second counts.
Looking at the titles that ranked, many ancestral titles of the racing genre made the list.
Just like the genre itself, the ranking was a literal dead heat, but the top two results were overwhelming. Taking 1st place was F1 Race with a vote share of 25.3%! In 2nd place was Excitebike with a vote share of 21%!
Since 3rd place Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race had a vote share of 6.6%, the top two won by a wide margin.
Additionally, F1 Race features a view from behind the vehicle, Excitebike has a side view, and Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race uses a top-down view. Since these three titles cover the major gameplay styles of the genre, it makes sense that these three titles alone earned over half of the total vote share.
Wai Wai World 2: SOS!! Parsley Castle, which the author voted for, came in 28th, but votes were also cast for other games that contain racing elements. For example, 15th place went to Sanma no Meitantei, which features a mini-game where you have a boat race battle against Yasushi.

Vivid Colors Spring to Mind! "Yellow Cartridges" Voting Starts!
The end of Vol. 44 means Vol. 45 has begun.
Voting for the 45th Famicom National Poll started on Thursday, May 23, 2024! This time the theme is Yellow Cartridges!
In the cartridge color series conducted so far, this time the focus is on yellow.
Since you plug the cartridge into the Famicom console to play, it stays in your sight during your entire session. Because you handle it every time you finish playing, that image is likely burned into your mind.
Furthermore, even when just looking at Yellow Cartridges, their hues vary greatly. When you consider which titles count as yellow, quite a few masterpieces come to mind immediately.
I think this is another difficult topic, but please cast your fair vote for the yellow cartridge title you have the strongest feelings for!

The author voted for Chubby Cherub, which is famous for being incredibly difficult! I never managed to clear it, so I put all my frustration from back then into my vote!
