ASUS held an announcement event in Japan for the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI, a router equipped with an AI core.
It was announced in December 2025 and was scheduled for release in Japan around spring 2026, but the actual device has finally been unveiled!

Will the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI Change Everything We Know About Routers?

ASUS JAPAN held a press conference for the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI for members of the media.

This product has garnered attention as the world's first router equipped with an AI core.
Kosuke Hiraiwa (@kouhiraiwa777), an esports caster at the forefront of the industry, took the stage at the announcement to share his impressions of using the device.

- Quad-core 2.6GHz CPU / 32GB internal storage / 4GB memory (Router Core)
- Quad-core 2.1GHz CPU / 32GB internal storage / 4GB memory / 7.9 TOPS NPU (AI Core)
The ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI is a Wi-Fi 7 router equipped with an AI core.
By running the high-speed communication system and the built-in AI processor system separately, AI functions can be used without sacrificing communication resources.

There are eight of the familiar antennas with independent amplifiers.
The design screams ROG and gaming router, but it is full of benefits such as reduced signal loss and improved heat dissipation compared to internal antennas.
The antennas are adjustable by 180 degrees in the XZ direction and 45 degrees in the YZ direction. Hiraiwa praised the performance, noting, "The speed didn't even drop in the bathroom where the signal usually gets weak."

- 10G WAN/LAN ×1
- 2.5G WAN/LAN ×1
- 10G LAN (Gaming Port) ×1
- 2.5G LAN ×3
- 1Gbps LAN ×1
Seven ports are provided on the back, ensuring a maximum throughput of 31Gbps.

- USB 3.2 Gen 1
- USB 2.0
There are two USB ports.
Four Major AI Features to Watch
We have introduced the basic specs, but you are likely wondering, "What can I actually do with a built-in AI?" Let's take a look!
Feature 1: Router Assistant

The first is the Router Assistant feature.
This allows you to configure settings or check communication status by asking the router in natural language.
Network configuration is often a high hurdle; furthermore, it is inconvenient to look up solutions online when you aren't connected to the internet yet.
Since the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI has the AI and database built-in locally, it can guide you through the initial setup, which is incredibly reassuring.

- What can Router Assistant do?
- How many devices are currently connected?
- Please turn off the router’s LED lights.
- Enable AI Balance Mode.
- Does ASUS router work with Starlink satellite internet?
- Can I schedule Wi-Fi to turn off at night?
- Why is the WAN LED red?
- How can I make my Wi-Fi password stronger?
- How do I reset my ASUS router to factory default?
The above are examples of questions demonstrated at the announcement.
As of this report, only English is supported.
The timing for Japanese language support is undecided.
ASUS JAPAN is reportedly making strong requests for it, but the current focus is on stable operation in English.
Feature 2: AI Game Boost

The second is the AI Game Boost feature.
The ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI categorizes communication into three levels—client, router, and server—optimizing each to ensure speed and stability.
This is a convenient feature for users who want to play on distant game servers.

Actual measurements shared at the event showed that average latency was reduced from 120ms to 70ms even when connecting to different regional servers.
While this is currently available as a free trial, a transition to a paid service is planned for the future.
Feature 3: AiProtection

The third is the AiProtection feature.
In ASUSWRT 6.0, in addition to conventional malicious site blocking, vulnerability protection, and suspicious communication detection, a feature to block advertisements and trackers has been added.
It works by analyzing browser packets to block them, contributing to a more comfortable and safe browsing experience.
Feature 4: AI Board & Built-in Docker

The fourth is the AI Board & Built-in Docker feature.
Incredibly, the Docker engine is installed directly on the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI.
Processing that previously required a separate PC or NAS can now be completed at the router's gateway layer. For example, you can analyze footage with AI simply by plugging in a camera.

Saiga NAKWhile this is a feature for advanced users, the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI appears to be the best choice for those looking to achieve a smarter smart home.
Improved Parental Controls

Parental control features have also been strengthened in ASUSWRT 6.0.
Blocking, which was previously handled on a per-category basis in version 5.0, can now be managed on a per-app basis.
Specific apps on specific devices can be allowed or blocked, providing a usage style that satisfies both parents and children.
The World's First Router Equipped with an AI Core is Scheduled for Release in Spring 2026

The ROG Rapture GT-BE19000AI is scheduled for release in spring 2026.
While some may feel that an AI-equipped router seems difficult to use, its true strength lies in the fact that the AI makes complex settings much easier to manage.
The exact release date and price have not yet been announced, so stay tuned for more news!
