The Pokémon Company has announced that it is considering introducing an identity verification system using My Number Cards for Pokémon Trading Card Game product sales and events.
They are aiming for a launch around August 2026 for online sales of certain products and events.

The Pokémon Company has announced that it is considering the introduction of an identity verification system utilizing My Number Cards to ensure players can enjoy the Pokémon Trading Card Game safely and securely.
The scope of target areas will include the following:
- Products: Priority lotteries and sales for certain products on Pokémon Center Online, the official Pokémon merchandise online store
- Events: Registration applications for certain official tournaments held within Japan
The planned format will use an external service to scan the IC chip of the My Number Card with a smartphone to authenticate the user's Players Club account.
Furthermore, they state that they will not acquire or store the My Number printed on the card.
Since the rollout is scheduled for around August 2026, players who do not possess a My Number Card may want to consider obtaining one.
Additionally, the specific timing of the introduction, target products and events, authentication methods, and age-appropriate operational rules will be announced separately as soon as details are finalized.
