At home, I regularly use a 4K gaming monitor and a 65-inch OLED TV.
Additionally, I have many opportunities to see various video equipment at press events, so I like to think I can tell the difference well enough.
That was when an invitation arrived for the Valerion × AVAC Valerion VisionMaster Max In-Store Experience Event.
I have reviewed various monitors and projectors boasting high definition, high refresh rates, and high resolution, but home theaters have been out of my mind!
So, I visited AVAC to experience their flagship model, the Valerion VisionMaster Max.
“Valerion × AVAC” The Ultimate Cinema Experience Held in 7 Cities Nationwide
PR TIMESOn Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Valerion × AVAC VisionMaster Max experience event was held in 7 cities nationwide.
Because people could experience the flagship model Valerion VisionMaster Max from Valerion, a brand specializing in home cinema projectors, at AVAC, one of Japan's largest home theater specialty retailers, the event concluded with massive excitement, and the number of applications exceeded original expectations.
The Saiga NAK editorial department also sneaked into the event on that day!
While I have reviewed many projectors before, my heart danced with anticipation for my first authentic home theater experience... here we go!
“Valerion VisionMaster Max” Exceeds 320 Million Yen in Makuake Crowdfunding Support
The Valerion VisionMaster Max is the flagship model developed by Valerion, a premium brand dedicated to cinema that was born in 2024.
Market attention remains relentless, as 320 million yen in crowdfunding support was raised by approximately 700 supporters on the crowdfunding service Makuake.
It is the highest-tier model in the VisionMaster series, which features an RGB triple laser light source, and though I am sharing this upfront, the official website price is 649,800 yen (including tax)!
For those of you who just thought that it is expectedly a bit expensive!
Admittedly, it is not easy to jump into, but I guarantee that its performance matches the price, so please read through to the end.

Let's See the Performance of the “Valerion VisionMaster Max,” Shall We?

At the experience event, a video message from Eason Zhu, the CTO and co-founder of the AWOL Vision / Valerion brand, was screened first.

Wow, it is way too beautiful.
I was immediately astonished by the fine, detailed sense of resolution, even to the point of checking the projector unit behind me to see if this was really being projected.
Eason Zhu commented that the Valerion VisionMaster Max is a special product designed for an immersive home cinema environment, and while it offers outstanding image quality, it is also well-suited for modern Japanese living conditions thanks to its lens shift function (described later).
Note that all projected images in this article were captured using a single-lens camera (Sony α7C, 28-200mm lens, ISO 3200, F7.1, 1/60 sec), and no brightness or color corrections have been applied.

To recap, Valerion was established in 2024 as a premium sub-brand of AWOL Vision.
It offers a wide range of home theater-related products, including the VisionMaster series of projectors utilizing RGB triple laser light sources, screens, and speaker systems.
The entire world is taking notice, as it recorded a funding amount of 10 million dollars on the American crowdfunding service Kickstarter.

The main features of the Valerion VisionMaster Max are as follows:
- 3,500 ISO lumens of brightness via RGB triple laser
- Dark area reproduction capabilities with a 50,000:1 contrast ratio via patented "EBL" technology
- Overwhelmingly high color gamut video covering REC2020
- Anti-rainbow & speckle reduction technology
- Lossless 4K picture quality through optical zoom and optical lens shift
The brightness of 3,500 ISO lumens and the projection expression achieved by the patented "EBL" technology overwhelm others.

Adopting a next-generation RGB triple laser light source, the Valerion VisionMaster Max achieves a brightness of 3,500 ISO lumens.
This is more than enough brightness for a home projector, reaching a level that remains practical even in a living room during daytime.

The "Enhanced Black Level (EBL)" technology that Valerion prides itself on features the projector unit analyzing in real time the image being projected, enhancing contrast and optimizing hues while considering the balance between bright and dark areas.
Whether it is a monitor or a projector, good products differ in their "expression of black."

Additionally, proprietary Anti-RBE technology has succeeded in reducing rainbow noise by 99.99%.
Furthermore, laser interference reduction technology reduces speckles.
By suppressing color flickering and laser graininess, it reproduces clear images that are gentle on the eyes even during long periods of viewing.
Saiga NAKMoreover, the optical zoom and optical lens shift are top-tier.

Without moving the installed Valerion VisionMaster Max...

Just the projected image moves up...

And further up!
By moving only the internal lens without changing the angle of the main unit, it supports a vertical lens shift of plus or minus 105%.
In short, this means it moves vertically by the size of one full screen plus a little bit more.
Immersed in a Demo Video Showing Overwhelming Expressive Power...!
Saiga NAK
We have checked the features of the Valerion VisionMaster Max so far, but seeing is believing.
Let us introduce a part of how the demo video looked.
This is the Gassho-zukuri village in Shirakawa-go, which is also registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Not to mention the expressions of white and black, the expression of the intermediate gradations between them is rich, giving birth to a three-dimensional feel in the image.
Saiga NAK
The aerial footage of Tokyo is also as you can see.
Particularly in the night views, I was clearly shown an exquisite expression where blacks do not get crushed and whites do not get blown out.
It goes without saying that the resolution is high enough to sharply project even the letters of advertisements brightly illuminated in the night cityscape.

An Interview With Valerion Managers Joey and Toby!

Additionally, we had a special opportunity this time to interview Joey Li, the Valerion Asia-Pacific Region Brand Manager, and Toby Tu, the Valerion Japanese Market Offline Channel Manager, from Elevation Technology Partners LLC!
― Please tell us about the features of the “Valerion VisionMaster Max”
Joey: The Valerion VisionMaster Max is the projector with the highest specifications in the VisionMaster series.
The VisionMaster series consists of five products—Plus, Plus 2, Pro, Pro 2, and Max—and each differs in areas like brightness and contrast ratio.
The Valerion VisionMaster Max enables overwhelming visual expression with its 3,500 ISO lumens and 50,000:1 contrast ratio, and it is also the only model equipped with an optical lens shift function.
In addition, it features Google TV as its OS, allowing users to easily access various video streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube.

― Since it is a home theater, it is a high-price range product, but what kind of users in the market are you targeting?
Toby: Basically, it is for those who already have a home theater setup at home and have developed even higher demands.
Also, we want to recommend projectors to people who are looking for TVs larger than 100 inches.
Since the Valerion VisionMaster Max can project on a massive screen of up to 300 inches, we want to approach those who are considering a replacement as well.

― Screen size is the biggest advantage of a projector, isn't it?
Toby: Past a certain line, projectors actually become cheaper in cost than TVs.
Aside from that, ease of installation is also a major benefit.
At the beginning of the project, we envisioned a "home theater" style of use where people would build a dedicated room to install the projector, but now we are also focusing on design based on the idea that "it is perfectly fine to place it in the living room."
And the flexible installation options provided by optical zoom and optical lens shift support that spirit.
The Valerion VisionMaster Max features a sophisticated design, so it blends into a room like a stylish piece of interior decor.

― We heard that it also features low latency
Joey: It achieves low latency of 15ms at 4K/60fps, 8ms at 1080P/120Hz, and 4ms at 1080P/240Hz.
We believe that by turning on Game Mode, users can enjoy highly comfortable gameplay.
Saiga NAK― Please give a message to those who are considering a projector
Joey: Due to impressions from an older generation, many people might think that projectors do not have very good image quality.
However, projector technology has surely evolved with the times, and we feel an era might come where people find projectors more convenient than large TVs.
And it is Valerion that will lead that world.
We would love for people to experience the technology of the latest projectors at AVAC stores.
